Piggly Wiggly Field Trip
One of the joys of being a stay at home mom is being able to join the girls for school events. Sarah Ellen's class took their first field trip to the local Piggly Wiggly to learn more about community helpers. Since the store was nearby, the class walked over. Sarah Ellen was so excited to have me their - she was all smiles and giggles. About half way their she decided she wanted me to carry her. I told her that she was a big girl and could walk like the rest of her classmates. Well this was certainly not the answer she was wanting, so she began to cry. And she continued to cry - FOR THE WHOLE TRIP. She eventually had to go walk with her teacher because she could not get it together. Her teachers were shocked as they had never seen her behave this way. I keep reminding myself that she saves this behavior for me because she feels completely secure in my love for her. Right?

Not a happy camper. |
Not even Mr. Chris showing her the lobsters could cheer her up. |
Can you see that face? |

Butterflies and Friends
One afternoon I caught lots of plump caterpillars chowing down on my parsley. The girls wanted to put them in their butterfly house and watch them turn into butterflies. I didn't think it would be so easy, but sure enough the fat little guys made cocoons and blossomed into beautiful butterflies. The Crafts came over one morning just in time to see one being released.

Friends
At the beginning of the school year, Lily had to fill out a booklet all about herself. This is a picture she drew of her and her friends, "Autum, MA, and Poter."

Hometown Weekend
We headed up to Chapin over the Labor Day Weekend to visit with family and old friends. We kicked off the weekend on Saturday morning running a 5K with Sheri, Neita and some of my friends from high school and college. I learned that I much prefer running in the Lowcountry. Overall it was a great race and James, Sheri, Neita, Clay and I all placed because there were only about 60 runners of dedicated training and hard work.
On Sunday we went to a barbecue at Mrs. Atkins house - my old librarian! This was truly a full circle moment (you know how much I love those). I watched my children play with the children of folks I went to preschool with!

I went to preschool with all of the fellas in the back row (minus my hubby). How cool is that!
On Monday we went to the Chapin Labor Day parade. I had signed up to be a vendor. It turned out to be a super hot day and I don't think many folks were ready to buy knitted wear just yet. Oh well, it was still great fun taking the girls to the hometown parade that I grew up going to. They loved it.
