Lily’s Christmas Program

This year Lily volunteered to be a reader in the school Christmas program.  I was so proud of my little girl.   Her sweet voice sounded angelic as she read:

“Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.  For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.  And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger".”

The reading took part during the 4K program.  Afterwards the kindergartners processed down the aisle and then sang.How many tears can one mamma shed in a night?   Have I mentioned how I love this little group of seven kindergartners?  We are so very blessed that Lily can share in this wonderful school experience. 

Sarah Ellen’s 3K Program

How is it that she is old enough to be in school programs?  Sarah Ellen and her classmates put on a great show for all the parents.  I am so proud of my little bug.          Afterwards, we celebrated Jesus’ birthday with cupcakes.  Sarah Ellen and Hannah were pretty serious about this part.

Lamont

A post about Sanford and Son?  No, this would be a post about our sweet little elf, Lamont.  Lamont returned to us in early December.  The girls missed him over the year were more than excited to see him.  Lamont was a sneaky little guy this year and each night hid in some fun, and sometimes, messy spots.  

  He evidently thought it would be fun to go zip lining one night.

   And make a picture of himself. 

We found him in the cereal, in the fridge, hanging from the lights, and even in my knitting.  Sadly Lamont left Christmas Eve to be with Santa for the year.  We are already looking forward to his return next year.

Christmas Card Time

It may be the most wonderful time of the year, but getting the perfect Christmas card picture is certainly not the most wonderful thing to do.  I dread this every year.  After much grumbling from the girls and bribing (with maybe a touch of yelling) from me, and a million shots, we did end up with a few noteworthy photos.

Cuteisms

• Conversation among Lily, Thomas and Parker:

"Hey let's play soccer"
Thomas: "I got second base.”
Lily: "I got first place"
Parker: "I got third base."
Lily: "wait, do we even know how to play soccer?"

• Anytime Sarah Ellen is talking about something that happened in the past she will say “later.” It is very cute to hear her describe all the things that she did “later.”
• So Lily has entered a bit of a sassy stage the past few days. The other morning, I was desperate and I played the Santa card. I said, “Lily, you do know that Santa can hear you and he only brings presents to little girls and boys that behave.” Her response: “I don’t care. I have lots of toys and my birthday is coming soon.” Aye, aye aye. Fourteen is going to be so much fun.
• While at Pawley’s James took Lily, Margaret Anne, and Porter exploring on “bunny island.” Porter said, “Mr. James, are you afraid of bunny rabbits.” Margaret Anne replied in her high pitched, are you crazy voice, “Why would Lily’s daddy be afraid of bunny rabbits.” Porter paused a moment and said, “just kidding.”
• Whenever Sarah Ellen wants to express a lot of something she says “beyond.” “I want beyond cookies.” “Can we stay in the tub beyond more minutes.”

Thanksgiving 2011

Guess how many people we had for Thanksgiving?

Eight adults and two children.   No worries of running out of food here!!

Tom Turkey

One of Lily’s classmates lives on a farm – a real live farm.  So it was only natural for them to bring in a REAL turkey for the class to see and pet.   E’s grandfather demonstrated turkey calls and then each student took turns petting “Tom."

Just another reason this is the best kindergarten class ever!
