Oh my, is my little Bug really 15 months old? She has been pure joy and I can’t get enough of her dimpled smile.
Miss Bug is a tiny little thing and weighed in at 20 lbs even, which put her in the 10th percentile for weight. She is right in the middle for height in the 50th percentile. What she lacks in weight, she more than makes up for in energy. She keeps us very busy. Just today, Lily informed me that, “Sarah Ellen is climbing on the table.” I come over expecting to find her struggling up into a chair. Oh no, she was on the table in a squat, stood up and started walking. She, no doubt, will be my first broken bone.
She is quite the talker, and just babbles on and on, sometimes to us, sometimes to Miller, and sometimes to her barn animals. I wish we knew what she was saying. She says a few “English” words here and there, but they are still few and far between. She can say Mama, Dada, baby, uh oh, and nigh-nigh. Her favorite word is “obish.” We have no idea what it means, but it is so stinking cute. Sometimes it is a statement and sometimes it is a question. She makes a few animal sounds, but pretty much still thinks all animals roar like a tiger. The other day at the grocery store, we were on the pet food aisle and she was roaring away. Her cutest sound is this high pitched “wooooo” when she is holding her toy wolf.
She seems to have picked up her Mommy’s bad habit of being picky and her Daddy’s good habit of drinking lots of fluids. She could drink nothing but milk all day and be very happy. We taught her to sign for her milk, by tapping her mouth. She walks around now, banging on her mouth begging for milk. She’ll stand in front of the refrigerator tapping away until we give in. As far as eating, she is rather picky. One day she will love blueberries and the next she wants nothing to do with them. She doesn’t eat too much at each meal. I would say her favorite food is pasta, but that could change at any minute.
She loves her big sister and they are starting to entertain each other. No one can make Sarah Ellen laugh like Lily. There truly is no better sound than to hear these two giggling and laughing together. Lily adores Sarah Ellen and is a true big sister, protecting Sarah Ellen and always looking out for her.
Sarah Ellen is getting a little more interested in books these days. She can only sit still long enough for one or two in the evening. She does love to sing before bedtime. We will sing “This Little Light of Mine.” She will hold up her light, blow it out, hide it under a bushel. Very cute.
Buggy continues to be a good sleeper. She takes one nap in the afternoons for about two hours and sleeps from 8 until 7ish in the morning. No complaints here. She is also like her mamma in that she doesn’t wake up very happy. You better have her milk ready and waiting or else you are going to hear about it.
Physically, she is a healthy little girl. She now has all of her molars in, and we can mark Roseola off of the childhood illnesses list. She is very sensitive to mosquitoes. I guess they can’t resist her sweetness either. I have to be careful to keep her from getting bitten because they turn into blisters and she cannot leave them alone.
She still holds true to the nickname Sarah Yellin. This girl has some lungs and is not afraid to tell you when she is not happy. Oh, the teenage years scare me.
Miss Bug, you are the sweetest thing on earth and we look forward to watching you spread your wings more and more each day.
