Bee Bug is 15 Months Old

Oh my, is my little Bug really 15 months old? She has been pure joy and I can’t get enough of her dimpled smile.

Miss Bug is a tiny little thing and weighed in at 20 lbs even, which put her in the 10th percentile for weight. She is right in the middle for height in the 50th percentile. What she lacks in weight, she more than makes up for in energy. She keeps us very busy. Just today, Lily informed me that, “Sarah Ellen is climbing on the table.” I come over expecting to find her struggling up into a chair. Oh no, she was on the table in a squat, stood up and started walking. She, no doubt, will be my first broken bone.

She is quite the talker, and just babbles on and on, sometimes to us, sometimes to Miller, and sometimes to her barn animals. I wish we knew what she was saying. She says a few “English” words here and there, but they are still few and far between. She can say Mama, Dada, baby, uh oh, and nigh-nigh. Her favorite word is “obish.” We have no idea what it means, but it is so stinking cute. Sometimes it is a statement and sometimes it is a question. She makes a few animal sounds, but pretty much still thinks all animals roar like a tiger. The other day at the grocery store, we were on the pet food aisle and she was roaring away. Her cutest sound is this high pitched “wooooo” when she is holding her toy wolf.

She seems to have picked up her Mommy’s bad habit of being picky and her Daddy’s good habit of drinking lots of fluids. She could drink nothing but milk all day and be very happy. We taught her to sign for her milk, by tapping her mouth. She walks around now, banging on her mouth begging for milk. She’ll stand in front of the refrigerator tapping away until we give in. As far as eating, she is rather picky. One day she will love blueberries and the next she wants nothing to do with them. She doesn’t eat too much at each meal. I would say her favorite food is pasta, but that could change at any minute.

She loves her big sister and they are starting to entertain each other. No one can make Sarah Ellen laugh like Lily. There truly is no better sound than to hear these two giggling and laughing together. Lily adores Sarah Ellen and is a true big sister, protecting Sarah Ellen and always looking out for her.

Sarah Ellen is getting a little more interested in books these days. She can only sit still long enough for one or two in the evening. She does love to sing before bedtime. We will sing “This Little Light of Mine.” She will hold up her light, blow it out, hide it under a bushel. Very cute.

Buggy continues to be a good sleeper. She takes one nap in the afternoons for about two hours and sleeps from 8 until 7ish in the morning. No complaints here. She is also like her mamma in that she doesn’t wake up very happy. You better have her milk ready and waiting or else you are going to hear about it.

IMG_6077

Physically, she is a healthy little girl. She now has all of her molars in, and we can mark Roseola off of the childhood illnesses list. She is very sensitive to mosquitoes. I guess they can’t resist her sweetness either. I have to be careful to keep her from getting bitten because they turn into blisters and she cannot leave them alone.

She still holds true to the nickname Sarah Yellin. This girl has some lungs and is not afraid to tell you when she is not happy. Oh, the teenage years scare me.

Miss Bug, you are the sweetest thing on earth and we look forward to watching you spread your wings more and more each day.

Birthday Day

Today we were lucky to get to celebrate two birthdays. We started the day off at the bowling alley celebrating Riley’s fourth birthday.

This was Lily’s first time bowling and she loved it, despite the fact that the bowling ball weighed almost as much as she did. IMG_6174She carried the ball herself, set it down, and pushed it on it’s way. And then, we waited and waited and waited until finally the ball made some contact with the pins. She actually won out of her little group – all skill! IMG_6175IMG_6177The shoes were too stinking cute and I might just have to get her a pair. IMG_6178IMG_6181Did I mention that we waited? IMG_6183 Sarah Ellen wanted to play too.IMG_6184IMG_6190Happy Birthday Riley!!

After Riley’s party, we headed over to Doncie and Poppy’s to celebrate Aunt Nette’s birthday. Doncie made a lowcountry feast while, Poppy cooked fresh crabs all afternoon. We ate and ate and ate. That’s my kind of party. Unfortunately, I was too lazy to grab my camera, so I’ll have to steal some pics from Doncie’s camera.

Happy Birthday Aunt Nette!

Yay Daddies, Again!

James and Allan completed yet another triathlon this morning out at Kiawah.  They “punched it up a notch” this time and completed an Olympic distance triathlon, which is a 1 mile swim, 28 mile bike, and 6.2 mile run.  I continue to admire their dedication and determination.  We are proud of you boys.

The night before, they did some rearranging of car seats for us, so Caroline and I could make the trek out together.  Five little girls were excited to cheer their daddies on. IMG_6196 IMG_6197Our timing was perfect.  As we were getting closer to Kiawah, we began to see a few bikers.  We pulled off and waited for the guys.  We were able to ride along beside them for a bit to take pictures and cheer them on.  I sure hope they don’t get a bad rep for having a crazy, loud fan club, but we couldn’t resist cheering our guys on. Baby Play Group Round Two

Is it really possible that we are on our second generation of play group?  Weren’t we just hanging out with Lily, Thomas and Margaret Anne?  Well, now that the big kids are in school, it’s the little kids turn to have some bonding time.   Oh, these sweet babes are going to be in college before we know it.

From here:IMG_1776  To here:IMG_6093 IMG_6095 IMG_6096IMG_6099 IMG_6103 IMG_6104 IMG_6107 IMG_6110 IMG_6113 IMG_6114 IMG_6115 IMG_6116

Here we are again, back in the play room watching our little ones romp around.  I can only hope these guys are as best buds as their older sibling have become.  Ellie, we missed you and can’t wait for you to join us.

Daddy’s Girls

Do you think two little girls miss their Daddy during the day?

The Michaliks Visit

We were lucky last week to have Chris, Sandy, Jackson and Cooper come for a visit.  After the stomach bug made it’s rounds in our house, we weren’t sure they would get to come, but those flexible Michaliks just changed their plans around and came to visit at the end of the week instead of the beginning.

IMG_6019 IMG_6020                                                         Jackson was rather smitten with his little God sisters.                                                           IMG_6021 IMG_6022 IMG_6023                                                         And Sarah Ellen was very smitten with Uncle Chris.

    IMG_6029

Saturday morning we packed up the bike and trailers and headed out to Charlestown Landing.  The weather was perfect and we had a fantastic morning riding, exploring a ship, and walking through the animal forest. IMG_6034 IMG_6038 IMG_6040 IMG_6041 IMG_6045 IMG_6047 I really need to buy Sarah Ellen some walking shoes.  The crocs just weren’t cutting it.  IMG_6049IMG_6051IMG_6054“Mom, why do you keep trying to put these chew toys on my feet?”  IMG_6056 IMG_6057 IMG_6059IMG_6064 IMG_6065   IMG_6068 IMG_6069 IMG_6072IMG_6074 IMG_6075 IMG_6077IMG_6081 IMG_6082 IMG_6083 IMG_6085
