Once again, my village rescues me. Last Friday I took an antibiotic that my body really did not think belonged in me. Soon after ingesting it, I was perched over the toilet for several hours. Of course this happens on a day that James was out of town and I was supposed to be picking up Lily and Porter from school. As soon as Alison heard my voice, she knew that wasn’t possible and she cheerily says no worries I’ll get them and they can stay for lunch. Not long after Cameron calls and next thing I know she is on my doorstep with Phenergan.
I eagerly succumbed to the Phenergan-induced sleep. I got an occasional call or text to verify that I was still alive. I didn’t see my children until 7 that night. Alison and Cameron juggled 8 children all day. I gave not one instruction. I didn’t have to – these girls know my children as well as I do.
I had no idea where my children were all day, but I know they were cared for and loved.
