Tweetsie Railroad

Last year James and I won a silent auction bid for a weekend getaway to the North Carolina mountains.   Our hosts, Richard and Beth, treated us to a wonderful weekend of great food, yummy smores and a day at Tweetsie Railroad.

The girls loved making smores on the outdoor stone patio with a built in fire pit.  Nothing like a gigantic marshmallow and chocolate before bedtime, right?DSC_0061DSC_0062  On Saturday, we traveled the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway to Tweetsie Railroad.  Sarah Ellen was Mr. Richard’s biggest fan and did not leave his side all day.DSC_0064
Our first adventure was to board the steam engine train for a wild west adventure.  As you can tell, Lily was a wee bit anxious about the train ride, but perked up once we began.  I am proud of her for facing her fears!DSC_0067DSC_0066DSC_0071  The train periodically stopped so we could watch the adventures of the local cowboys and Indians. Richard and Beth do not have grandchildren yet, but they sure are going to make fabulous ones one day!  Our girls gave them plenty of practice.
