Race the Landing

The whole family was able to race in this great event.  Charlestown Landing hosts a 5K series in the summer that includes a kids race, adult race and dinner!
The kids race was great fun and all the kids received trophies for their accomplishments.  I love instilling a love for exercise and a desire to keep our bodies healthy at such a young age.  They have seen mommy and daddy participate in races and now they get a chance.IMG_7635IMG_7638IMG_7639IMG_7648IMG_7652IMG_7656IMG_7659
On to the adult race.  Ouch.  I had not run in over two months because of having bronchitis.  I thought it wouldn’t be difficult to jump back in though.  It was only three miles after all.  Boy, did I think wrong.  I started out a little too fast and paid for it quickly.  If it weren’t for our children cheering for us on the sidelines, I would have stopped at a mile and half.  Their cheers and the beautiful scenery pushed me on and I finished.
James had a great race and finished fourth in his age group!
After the race, we enjoyed a fabulous dinner and home brew.  The kids had fun in the photo booth.  During the awards presentation, we celebrated two top finishers at our table:  James and Jamey!

Can’t wait to do more of these races next year.
