Sarah Ellen visits Chapin

We survived our first road trip with both girls.  James was supposed to have a business trip to Atlanta, and was going to drop us off on his way.  His trip ended up getting canceled, so he joined us for a fun weekend up at the lake.

Sarah Ellen instantly began smiling for Mimi.  These are some of the first shots I have of her smiling.  IMG_2430 IMG_2434

Adam has really taken to Sarah Ellen.  Kami and Mimi have to fight him to get to hold her.  He wasn't so much into the infant stage with Lily, but something about Sarah Ellen has grabbed his heart.  Austin likes to hold Sarah Ellen too, but definitely enjoys entertaining Lily.  These boys are amazing big cousins.IMG_2438

Sarah Ellen caught in the act.  She's following in her sister's footsteps.  Orthodontist, here we come.IMG_2442

My camera died just hours after we got there.  In packing up the entire house for the trip, I somehow forgot to pack the battery charger. Hmm.  I took some pictures with Kami's camera and will hopefully add them later.

Friday night, we celebrated Richard's birthday with burgers, cake, and a trip on the boat to see the birds.  No Sarah Ellen did not have her first boat ride.  I stayed home with the girls to get them tucked in.

Saturday, we enjoyed hanging out on the lake.  I actually floated on a raft for a few hours.  It was complete bliss (except for the sunburn to follow).  Saturday evening, I joined some girlfriends from PT school downtown to celebrate Heather's engagement.  We enjoyed catching up over a good meal.  The girls continued to celebrate late into the evening, but I, as usual, wimped out and headed back to Chapin.   Later that night we got a bad thunderstorm that knocked the power out from 10 o'clock at night until 6 o'clock the next morning.  It began to get a little toasty without any AC, but James and I slept well with a little help from our friend: Mr. Ambien.

One of the many treats of visiting Mom and Dad is that Mom gets up with the baby at night.  She insists that she enjoys doing it, and I don't argue to hard.  Thanks Mom for a solid 8 hours of sleep.
