Hobbies

You may have noticed by my obvious lack of blogging that I have taken on a new hobby.  I recently began a new cross stitch.  Yes, here is another pastime to add to my long list of grandma-like hobbies.  I love to cross stitch.  The only problem with this hobby is that I’m not real fond of cross stitches as decoration.  I enjoy doing them, but then what do I do with the finished product.

I have found a designer that does Charleston area landscapes that when completed look like an actual picture.  The entire surface is cross stitched - every tee-tiny square.   I have completed one of these and all total, it took about 6 years.  For some crazy reason, I decided to delve into another one.  I have become quite addicted and have been cross stitching like mad for the past several weeks.   Why can’t I become addicted to exercise or water?

Here it the first one I completed.  This is our dream home.  One can dream, right?DSC_0597

Here is the one I recently started.DSC_0601

As you can see, this new cross stitch is much larger than the first one, so I figure I will be blogging the final product in about 10 years.  Wish me luck.  DSC_0605

I hope that explains my lack of blogging.  Hopefully, I will get back into taking pictures of my cuties and blogging them.  I think the fact that I can actually cross stitch marks the beginning of a new era for me.  The girls are starting to play with each other more and don’t need me as much.  Therefore, I now have some time for hobbies.  A few days last week, I sat at the table and cross stitched while I watched them play together on the back deck.  They are having so much fun together.  I now realize the best present we could have ever given Lily was a baby sister.  They truly adore each other.

Taryn, I love that you cross-stitch! I grew up cross-stitching because my mom and grandmother both did and my mom ran a cross-stitch/framing business. I have so many of their old pieces that I don't know what to do with! Those Charleston patterns are beautiful and your girls will appreciate these one day. :-)
