Out takes

While we were visiting Duke for Aunt Nette’s graduation, the girls had fun posing for some fun shots.  The campus made a great back drop.  DSC_0035DSC_0046DSC_0054-1DSC_0057DSC_0059-1DSC_0062-1DSC_0069DSC_0073DSC_0077DSC_0084-1DSC_0117  Sarah Ellen collected some leaves that she wanted to take home and put in her “piggy bank.”DSC_0121DSC_0124DSC_0133DSC_0135DSC_0156

Christmas Tree Time

Following Cothran (or should I say Betsy’s) tradition, we went in search of the perfect Christmas tree the very next day after Thanksgiving.  Porter was over playing, so much to he and Lily’s delight, he joined us.  We visited our friends from the Wishon tree farm.  We’ve been going there for so many years that they now remember us.  I just love a tradition!DSC_0004-5DSC_0009-3

We turned on the Christmas music and decorated the tree together.  I love pulling out the ornaments each year and remembering where each one came from.  DSC_0002-2

Thanksgiving at Mimi and Papa’s

We celebrated Thanksgiving this year in Chapin.  Just look at all of this food.  I wish I could go back for one more scoop of stuffing.

I am thankful for all the blessings in my life and most of all for my family.  I love you each with all my heart.

Congratulations Aunt Nette

Last weekend we traveled up to Duke to celebrate with Aunt Nette.  After 20 long months, she graduated from The Fuqua School of Business at Duke University with an MBA.  Saying that she worked hard is an understatement.  We are very proud of you Aunt Nette.

The girls were very proud of Aunt Nette, but after a 10 PM bedtime, sitting in a cushy chair and low lights, they succumbed to sleep.DSC_0012-2 DSC_0013-2    DSC_0017-1   DSC_0020-2 Aunt Nette walking across the stage.DSC_0021    DSC_0025 DSC_0033   DSC_0158   DSC_0162  DSC_0167    DSC_0177    It was a whirlwind trip, but more than worth it.  I was excited for the girls to see their Aunt’s hard work and dedication in this achievement.  She is a great role model for her nieces.

Sarah Ellen’s Thanksgiving Program

James, Lily and I joined Sarah Ellen’s class on Monday for a Thanksgiving feast.  It is hard to believe that it was just two years ago that this was Lily’s class.  Lily was in school this day, but really wanted to come to her sister’s program so we got her out early.

Sarah Ellen’s class came in and sang a few songs (mostly sung by the parents and teachers).  We then enjoyed a yummy lunch together.

Sarah Ellen, I love seeing you interact with your friends and teachers.   You simply adore your teachers and are thriving with them this year.

Lily’s Thanksgiving Program

Lily and her classmates, dressed as pilgrims, sang several Turkey Day songs and then we joined them for a feast. Sarah Ellen’s Haircut

For a long time now Ceekine (I never know how to spell this, but it is pronounced Key-kine (rhymes with line)) has been dying to get a pair of scissors to Sarah Ellen’s hair.  I gave in this week.  I was a bit nervous when Caroline began saying 2 inches, but she controlled herself and cut off a much needed inch.  Sarah Ellen now has a cute little bob and the nest in the back is much more controllable.  Thank you Ceekine.
