Running

In writing the cross stitch post, I read a comment I made back in March of “why can’t I get addicted to exercise.”  Well… I think I may have.  A few months ago Cameron, Caroline and I began training for a 10K coming up in January.  We started out thinking we would do a 5K, but we have been able to increase our distances easier then we  thought, so we just might be ready for that 10K.

I have tried running in the past and hated every pounding step.  It never became a habit or something I enjoyed.  I am not sure what has changed this go around, but I am really enjoying running.  I’m not sure if it is having a goal to achieve, the feeling of accomplishment afterwards, having the girls see the importance of exercise or fitting easily into my jeans.  Whatever it is, I am glad that I am sticking with it and enjoying it.  I have been running since August.  I average 3-4 times a week and I have gotten up to 5 miles.  5 MILES!!!  If you told me earlier this year that I would be running 5 miles, I would have laughed.

It helps to have a husband that is a runner.  He has all the gadgets and gizmos that make running more fun.  He is also excited that I have become hooked and is very supportive and encouraging.  After sticking with it for a while, I allowed myself to buy some running gear.  Maybe one day, I can officially call myself a runner.

10K – here I come.
