National Harbor

For the conference, we stayed in National Harbor, MD which is right across the river from DC.  James is very involved with DRI, the organization sponsoring the conference, so he was gone much of the time.  The girls and I busied ourselves with exploring the beautiful hotel and a little bit of National Harbor.  It was very cold, so we didn’t get out as much I would have liked.
This is the view from our hotel room of the huge atrium.  Even though is was too cold to be outside, it still felt like being outdoors on our balcony.  And the best part – no bugs!IMG_0538Daddy had a few evenings off, so we were able to join him for several dinners.  One night we were all very hungry but didn’t feel like eating at the sports bar in the hotel, so we opted for the high end steak house:  with the girls! The girls behaved very well and only one drink was spilled the whole night!

IMG_0540Because I didn’t want to venture into DC on my own with the girls and it was pretty frigid outside, the girls and I spent much of our time at the indoor pool.  They had a blast swimming and making new friends and I enjoyed some downtime knitting and reading.IMG_0530
While we were there, Red Bull filmed a commercial featuring a skydiver jumping from the top floor of the atrium.  Unfortunately, the girls and I had tickets to a museum and weren’t able to the see the actual jump. I did find it here on youtube.IMG_0535
