Poopie

Yep, another post about poopie.  Those of you that are squeamish, should probably just skip this post altogether, but I have to record our most traumatic night yet with our two year old.  Once again, Lily has struggled with constipation this weekend.  Yesterday afternoon, she was pretty miserable and telling us her "poopie hurt" about every five minutes.  We did the poopie dance, did the poopie cheer (push it out, push it out, way out), ate lots of apple sauce with sugar (Miralax), and played chase around the house to try to get her poopie out.  No such luck, until of course we were in the bath tub.  This was a first for us, but after a few minutes of painful screaming, Lily squeezed out her poop (I'll just say ouch to describe it).  Obviously, she was a new child and went to bed very relieved as did James and I.

I was hoping that was the end of the constipation and the Miralax would kick in for today.  I was soon disappointed.  We gave her a suppository before nap and nothing.  We spent another afternoon of poopie releasing tricks and nothing.  Thank goodness Trey, Molly, Thomas, and Parker came over for dinner, because Thomas was the only thing that made Lily forget about her poopie all day.  We were hoping bath time would be the trick again tonight but it wasn't.  So with extreme dread, we contemplated the enema.  We did it, and Lily is such a brave little girl.  I swear it was like she was giving birth.  James was holding one leg, I was holding the other, we were coaching her to push, she was sweating and screaming.  It was absolutely horrible.  Finally, finally she pushed out the poop (and I'll just say ouch again).  All three of us collapsed with relief.  I felt so bad for my sweet little girl that was so afraid of her poopie hurting.  She was shaking all over and had a hard time getting up afterwards.  Thankfully, the poop is all out.  I am going to feed her nothing but fiber so we never have to go through that again.  I know one little girl that is going to sleep good tonight.
