Literally. Our beach house is rocking. As I was laying in bed last night, my bed started to rock. Every now and then, it would gently rock back and forth as would the curtains. Panic wasn’t allowed to set it because my Ambien was taking effect. Today, however, I started to get a little (okay a lot) nervous about our swaying house. I decided to test it out. I went upstairs, planted my feet, and rocked back and forth. Sure enough, the entire house swayed. Everyone felt it downstairs. In typical Taryn fashion, I started to worry.
I posted the following Facebook status: I’m staying in a two story beach house on stilts that sways. Yes, if I rock back and forth, the whole house sways. Someone convince me that it is not going to fall down!
Here are some of the replies:
- “you must be at Pawley’s”
- “wait until you turn on the washing machine.”
- “so…can you put a marble in the center of the room and place bets on which way it will roll.”
There were many more similar comments. Evidently beach houses on stilts just sway. I’m not saying I feel whole let better about the issue, and I don’t really care to be rocked to sleep tonight, but I suppose I will let go of my fear of the house toppling over.

The rip tide at Myrtle Beach is very bad. They pulled out 6 this weekend. We went out with Ginny and the Burkholders last night to see Julie and Julia. It was very good. I forgot to tell you that Molly is pregnant. Theo is very happy.
Very Very hot here.
