Day 5: Ocean Path Hike and Bar Harbor

Because we were out late the night before, we enjoyed a slow morning.  We made plans to do a hike with the other crew and knew they had 7 folks to get ready.  We decided to hike the Ocean Path trail as it was a fairly easy path along the shoreline and went past Thunder Hole.  We made plans to meet up at the Sand Beach parking lot but completely forgot we would not have cell service once in the park.  The parking lot was full and we thought we would never find them.  Incredibly, we saw their car drive by as we were setting out on the hike.  James literally chased them down the street.

At the end of each day, I ask the girls to send me all the pictures they took.  I love what I get sometimes!

We stopped at Thunder Hole, which was amazing.  The waves come crashing into a cave and make a thunderous sound, hence the name.  Apparently, it is best to see it two hours before high tide.  We were there at low tide and it was still pretty impressive.  We hope to come back at some point this week.

We explored some of the tide pools in this area for a bit.
Time for a new shirt hubby!!
Thomas giving SE a lift.
This little guy did not mind us joining him for a bit.

As the trail continued, it hugged the coastline and was not crowded at all.  We pushed on and made it to the end.
The crew joining us weren't aware that hiking would be involved.  Thomas did the entire thing in his cowboy boots.  SE offered to trade with him.
Thomas: "It would be great to be a snake - just sun on the rocks all day."
Ian was the ring bearer in our wedding.  Now he is married with a baby girl on the way!
Felicia wanted seafood dip from Stewman's - what pregnant ladies want, pregnant ladies get!  We enjoyed another excellent meal with everyone.  This crew had to drive all the way back to Portland this night, but they did not let that stop them.  The squeezed out every bit of fun they could get out of Bar Harbor.  After dinner, we shopped more and made our way to the Bar Harbor Cheesecake Company. This was an amazing experience.  It is owned by 19 people (some are related) and has zero employees.  They all work at the two different locations and run everything entirely by themselves.  We loved talking with our server, Allegra.  You can get a flight of cheesecake and they have over 100 flavors.  I got red velvet, chocolate "moose", blueberry and New York with a cinnamon bun in it!  They were all amazing!  I would recommend this to anyone visiting the area.
Felicia taught us how to play catchphrase and by the end of the night, the owners were playing with us.  We shut the place down at 11:30!  We didn't get into bed until 1:00 and they didn't get home until 4:30AM.
