After another late night, we had another slow morning. We debated several options for the day, but decided to rent e-bikes and explore the carriage roads in the parks. When we got to the rental shop, we were told you had to be 16 to ride the e-bikes. One look at SE and we knew that rule was not going to be bent. We decided to go ahead with regular bikes and I discovered something new about myself today: I hate mountain biking. Hills are HARD. I guess my lowcountry legs just have no experience, but that didn't stop my children from zooming on up the hills. I have never felt so out of shape in my life.
I'll be there in a bit...
I'm coming. Just look at all that enjoyment on my face.
As soon as I make it, they start going again.
We found this guy just munching on clover.
We made it back to the bridge where we started. I gladly told my people to keep going and I would find me a spot to plan some hikes. Give me hiking boots anyway!!
And wow, did I ever find a spot!! The rocks formed a perfect little seat for me. They could bike to their hearts' content.
Wild blueberries
They made it back and had discovered that we had only biked a small portion of the trail we planned on doing. Just 4 miles. I was sure I had gone 20 miles up Mt. Everest. James wanted to do the bigger loop around Eagle Lake and the girls opted to hang with me.
We made it back to town to return our bikes and spent the afternoon/evening shopping.
Our first stop was to play with this 13 -week-old bundle of fluff, Sargent! Sargent's owner recommended Geddy's for pizza and she was right! It was so good that we ordered another pizza after we finished the first two.
We did the obligatory tourist shopping for a few hours, which, of course, included ice cream, this time from Ben and Bills. The jewelry store Dali's caught my eye and reminded me of a store we bought some earrings from in Jackson Hole. Thinking it was a chain, I asked the person working there if they had one in Jackson Hole and it was his store. That store has since closed and he moved to open this one in Bar Harbor. What are the chances! The girls and I picked up a few more earrings!
We made it home for sunset and were greeted with a huge buck running down our driveway.
Goodnight, Acadia!
Daily steps: 11,903

Mountain biking is stupid!
