Horseless Rodeo

Guess who was first up again this morning?  ME!  What is up with that?  Breakfast was at 8:00 - french toast, eggs, sausage and cantaloupe.  The couple that sat with us told us that all the baked goods are made from scratch on property.

Sarah Ellen was all about being a cowgirl.  Her fingers were looped in her jeans the whole time!
Next up was the horseless rodeo.  They broke us up into four teams and we participated in several races.  Lily did the egg on a spoon race.  Sarah Ellen carried a bucket on her head.  James did the dizzy relay.  Such fun!

We had some down time before lunch to relax and enjoy this beautiful place.  For lunch ,we gathered outside in the Aspen Grove and ate hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and watermelon.

Our scheduled activity for today was horseback riding.  Sadly, the age limit was 8, so little Buggy had to go to Kids Club.  Surprisingly, she took this really well.  We rode in Big Red over to the ranch and saddled up.  This was a great treat.  I was first in line behind the leader and then James.  Lily was about five horses behind us and did great.  She was a little nervous (as was her mama) but she had a blast!
When we picked SE up from Club she was bouncing off the walls with how much fun she had. Next, all the kids took a bus down to the ranch to ride horses.  This gave James and I an hour and half of free time.  We shot BB guns - my first time.  Then enjoyed reading our books while overlooking Mount Princeton.  This camp has such a feeling of security.  It is a keyless camp, meaning we have no room key.  We leave our door open all day.  We have only been here a day and we sent our children off on a bus without a second thought and we let them go to  places around camp on their own.
The cleaning fairies decorated the girl's ladder.
Dinner was yummy: spaghetti, tortellini, fresh bread, and salad.  The girls were so excited to get to kids camp tonight they ditched their desserts.  I love that they are so excited every time.  The counselors here are amazing.  Kids camp was until 10:30 tonight because the adults were taking a bus over to join the Frontier (kids) camp for the evening.  After James dropped the kids off and came back to our room, we realized how quiet it was and that this might be the only time in 2 months we will be kid-free.  We opted to ditch the evening program, read our books, and enjoy the beauty (and silence) around us.

Favorite quote of the day came from James as we were walking back from BB shooting.  "It's so hard to have a BB gun in your hand and not want to shoot everything."
