Off To a Great Start

We made it! After a year of planning, endless hours on the internet researching, weeks of strategic packing planning: WE MADE IT!  The girls woke up before six, which I suppose was good to get us an early start.  We had a surprise send off from Aunt Nette - she showed up for some extra tight hugs!  We got on the road around eight.

This leg of the trip is our longest scheduled drive.  It was nice to be able to tell the girls, "this is our longest drive."  They don't have to know that some of the others are only twenty minutes shorter, right?  They did great.  They played games, watched a movie, listened to Kids Bop - lots of Kids Bop, colored and looked for all the states on license tags.  Of course, there was some fussing but for the most part, they were great.  Towards the end of the trip, we hit some traffic.  The girls started getting loud and goofy.  Sarah Ellen kept laughing and finally said, "why am I laughing so much for no reason."  That was the delirium setting in.

We didn't realize that Santa Rosa is an hour behind, so we were thankful to gain that extra hour.   We stopped at The Perfect Pig for dinner on our way in.  Sheri and Neita recommended it, and they were right.  It was delicious.

We arrived at our place, the Sea Y'all.  It is perfect!  Clean, spacious and most importantly right on the white sand beach!!  As promised, we hit the pool first.  Then we were off to the beach.  James was amazed at how clear the water is. He and the girls were snorkeling right away.

After the girls took their showers, I was showing Sarah Ellen her "packing cube" (I'll explain these later) of pj's.  She got the cutest expression on her face, hugged me real tight and said, "thank you for this atlas,... I mean whatever we are on."  She was meaning sabbatical, but I knew.  I was overwhelmed with her gratitude and so thankful that she recognized what a treat this is for our family.

Both girls were so excited as they climbed into their bunk beds.  This was the perfect start to our adventure.
Room to spare baby!

Sounds like a great start for sure! Porter is googling the clear water of Florida now!
