There is nothing better than a dark hotel room for sleeping in. |
We left Lafayette heading towards Houston. It was enjoyable driving through country that we have never seen.

We finally made it to Dave and Busters to meet the Hughes. I drove the last leg which included rain, getting lost, big city, and horrible roads, but we made it!
It was wonderful to see Jason, Kerin, Ethan and Hannah. I don't think the kids remembered each other but it didn't take long for them to pick back up right where they left off. We had never been to a Dave and Busters before. Apparently it is like a grown up Chuck E Cheese. We enjoyed a yummy meal then headed downstairs to play games. Sarah Ellen hit the jack pot and won 2000 tickets. Yay - this equaled a big stuffed animal to join us on the trip!!
Back in the car for the last three hours of this leg. I have to say I am very proud of these girls. They have been excellent riders. We even have workbook time (threw that in just in case Mrs. Long is reading), flash card time, and handwriting time. They have a great little set up in between them loaded with fun books, travel games, crafts, and toys. And I must not forget the ultimate entertainer: the iPad mini! Good call on that one Santa!
As we got closer to San Antonio the landscape became prettier and prettier. We are staying at the La Canterra Hilltop Resort. San Antonio wasn't even on our radar until I discovered that our bank owned this resort. Because of this, we were able to get a really good rate. We were very excited when we pulled up. This ain't no Lafayette, LA Hampton Inn!! The view is beautiful. The resort is beautiful. I'm thinking the next six days are looking good!
On tap for tomorrow: Six Flags!
